Chatlands™ Guardian Code of Conduct

The Chatlands Guardians are the people responsible for the overall Chatlands property, including all Chatlands chat sites, the Chatlands Forum, various Discord servers, and similar concerns.

As the final authority on Chatlands, Guardians set an example of ideal behavior for our community. They must abide by rules for each chat site and they must follow the Chatlands™ Code of Conduct. They also follow an additional code of conduct which we call the Chatlands Guardian Contract.

Chatlands Guardian Contract The Chatlands Guardians are appointed to oversee and enforce the rules and regulations of Chatlands to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all Chatlands users. Appointment: New Guardians are chosen by the existing Guardians and Underdog. There should be three members at a time. Requirements:
  • They must go through Guardian Training (once it exists)
  • They must be 21 years of age.
  • They must have few to no previous infractions.
  • They must have extensive knowledge at every rank; Subordinate > Helper > Gamma > Beta > Alpha and be knowledgeable about bugs, fixes, and announcements.
  • This means that Guardians must know how to navigate admin panels to perform IP lookups, understand how IPs are shared, how to place & revoke bans, etc.
  • They will promptly update site owners on bug fixes and progress.
  • They should be very knowledgeable of the Rules of Chatlands, follow them and teach them to other admins.
  • They must impartially handle ban appeals & other situations.
  • They must be capable of summarizing & formatting write-ups using clear language for easy organization. They will document all details of a situation for future reference.
  • They must be able to navigate the PT system & send NGs/emails to members clearly, coherently, and engage with them respectfully.
  • They must be able to follow through with proper demotions when necessary, whether that be initiating the process themselves or bringing things to the attention of UD.
  • Every site owner is responsible for their admin teams. They are the ones to ensure all are working together according to their ranks. Guardians are not expected to check on how sites are operating, but they should be able to manage reports or concerns about a site administrator, notify the site owner and possibly investigate to determine what needs to be done based on the evidence found.
  • They must be able to organize meetings clearly and concisely for the owners participating on the Chatlands Site Council discord.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Guardians are responsible on a day-to-day basis for moderating Chatlands and acting as a liaison between the Council Members and Underdog.
  • They report directly to Underdog and are specifically responsible for handling Council Problem Tickets and bringing this information to the attention of the Council.
  • Guardians are expected to abide by the Chatlands Code of Conduct and fulfill the Council Expectations.
Confidentiality:
  • Confidentiality is a crucial part of being a Guardian. Information shared in private areas such as private forums or group chats for meetings must be kept confidential unless stated otherwise. This includes information about users, staff, and the site itself. Examples of confidential information include user reports and reporters, ban details, emails and IP addresses and extreme, sensitive or intimate personal information that does not need to circulate Chatlands.
  • It is the responsibility of the Guardians to maintain the confidentiality of this information. If there is uncertainty whether something is appropriate for public release, it is important to discuss it with the other Guardians and/or Underdog before sharing it. Remember, breaching confidentiality can lead to a loss of trust amongst each other and Council members, sensitive information being spread throughout Chatlands, and may result in the demotion or termination.
Term and Termination:
  • This Agreement shall commence on the Effective Date and shall remain in effect until terminated by either party with or without prior notice.
  • Upon termination of this Agreement, the Guardian shall promptly return any confidential information or materials provided by the Administrator.
This Guardian Contract may be revisited and updated at any time. Such updates will be disclosed to the Chatlands community in an official statement.
